About Me

My name is Leanne and I am the blogger behind Organising the Four of Us. I was born on a citrus farm in South Africa where I lived most of my childhood before moving to Queensland, Australia at the age of 12.

I am a high school teacher, Thermomix demonstrator, blogger, wife and a mum to two very sweet boys. I live a busy, yet simple life and try to keep life as uncomplicated as possible.

I started this blog in May of 2012 as a way to document our life as a family of (then) 3. Since then it has evolved to include posts about renovating, organising and simplifying – three of my passions. Life is not perfect, not for anyone, but I choose to focus on the beauty of life and let’s face it – there is a lot of that.

I’d love you to join me as we renovate, decorate and simplify our family home together.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How did you start teaching so young?

Fun fact - I never did Grade 7. I moved from year 6 (in South Africa) and went straight into Year 8 in Australia. Because of this I graduated year 12 when I was 16. I then 'fast tracked' university (while I worked full-time and planned our wedding) and graduated University when I was 19. I finished my degree on the Fridayand started full-time teaching career as a high school teacher on the Monday.

2. What do you teach?

Maths! Call me crazy, but I love it!

3. What was your first job?

My first job (and only job before teaching) was in retail. I started working at a local grocery store when I was 14 and continued to work there until I graduated from university and started my current job.

4. Are you a bit of a hoarder, or do you get rid of everything?

I get rid of everything. My poor husband always jokes that if he stands still too long, I will throw him out too. There are no junk cupboards or junk draws in this house. I am over the top when it comes to keeping things uncluttered.

5. How many children do you have?

Two! I can't believe how different they are. Our eldest (Cruz) is far beyond his years intellectually, he's sensitive and very blond. Our youngest (Hunter) is determined, hilarious, mischievous and has a head full of red hair.

6. Will you have anymore children?

Our family is complete - if we were to have another baby it would be a shock to all of us. I suffer hyperemesis gravidarum when pregnant and for me it's debilitating.

7. Do you have a hobby that you pursue?

Yes. Organising the house. Sad, I know. I also love demonstrating the Thermomix and blogging.

8. Were you always this tidy and organised?

No - my family like to remind me of that all the time too. I was actually very messy and it has been through routine, decluttering and lots of hard work that I have managed to get the house the way it is now. I believe that anyone can change their habits. It's not easy, but it is worth it.

9. How do you do it all?

(Watch this space - I have a post on this topic coming!)

10. How would you describe yourself?

This is a hard one. I asked my husband and he said organised, caring and creative. Isn't he sweet!?
